Understand how the free trial, Pro, and license activations work, from the day you install through buying, activating, and restoring a key.
The Free Trial
Every install of Responsive Tester automatically starts a 7-day Pro trial. There is nothing to sign up for and no card required: the moment the extension is added, the full Pro feature set is unlocked for you to try.
During the trial you have complete access to interaction sync, live CSS editing, and change tracking with CSS export, alongside every free feature.
When the 7-day trial ends, the extension quietly reverts to its free features. There is no auto-charge and no surprise billing: nothing happens to any payment method because you never entered one. The free features continue to work as before, and the Pro tools stay locked until you buy a license.
What Pro Unlocks
Pro adds three tools aimed at inspecting and editing the page across devices:
- Interaction sync: mirror clicks, typing, and other interactions from one frame across every frame at once, so you can drive a whole set of devices from a single viewport.
- Live CSS editing: edit the page's CSS in place and see the result render live across all frames.
- Change tracking with CSS export: track the edits you make and export them as CSS so you can carry the changes back into your codebase.
Everything else is free, permanently. That includes multi-device preview, scroll sync, breakpoints, presets, custom sizes, rotate, resize, zoom, overflow warnings, and screenshots. The free tier covers the entire preview workflow on its own; Pro is only the editing and interaction layer on top.
Buying Pro
Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. You pay once and keep Pro: there is no recurring charge and no renewal to cancel.
The purchase is handled by Gumroad, which runs the checkout and delivers your license key. Every purchase includes a 30-day money-back guarantee, so if Pro is not right for you within that window, you can request a full refund.
Activating Your License
After buying, you unlock Pro by entering your license key into the extension. Once the key is accepted, the Pro tools become available and stay unlocked on that device.
A single license activates on up to 3 devices. That means one purchase covers your work and personal machines together, so you do not need a separate key for each computer you use Responsive Tester on.
Restoring a Lost Key
If you lose track of your license key, you can retrieve it by signing in to Gumroad with the same email address you bought with. Your purchase and its key are tied to that account. If you cannot reach it that way, contact support and your key can be recovered for you.
The key is always entered manually. There is no automatic restore built into the extension, so retrieving the key from Gumroad or support and pasting it back into the license field is the way to reactivate on a new or reset device.
Payments and Privacy
Gumroad processes the payment and stores your billing details. The extension never sees your card: card numbers and payment data are handled entirely by Gumroad, and only the license key comes back to Responsive Tester.
